If you find yourself hearing, "Well, this is the way we have always done it!" - run, or call in professional help. This statement is usually connected to a mindset that resides in fear, group think, and ego. Working around this mindset is a tricky business especially if you are an employee wanting to maintain positive relations. There is immense power in bringing in outside perspectives that serve as the fearless voices for working around conceptual bottlenecks and respectfully pointing them out so answers often held back can bubble forth without being shut down.
Being attached to comfort without reviewing opportunities for alterations and experiments is the biggest killer of creating a better world that works for environmental and social health, and that works for those doing the work.
